Breaking the Cycle of Fear and Avoidance: A Neurodivergent Artist's Journey to Embrace Vulnerability and Creativity

Fearlessness: A Misconception

Fearlessness is a quality that many people aspire to possess. It is often seen as a symbol of strength and courage, and something that sets successful people apart from the rest. But the truth is, most of us are not truly fearless. In fact, we often mistake avoidance for fearlessness. We convince ourselves that we are brave because we are not facing our fears, when in reality, we are simply staying away from the things that scare us.

The Neurodivergent Perspective on Fear and Avoidance

As a neurodivergent person, I know all too well the feeling of avoiding things that scare me while believing that I am being fearless. It's a common misconception that neurodivergent individuals lack emotions, but in reality, we can experience intense fear and anxiety in certain situations. This can lead to a cycle of avoidance and fear that can hold us back from reaching our full potential. As a neurodivergent artist, I've always been passionate about art, and it's been a way for me to express myself in ways that words cannot. However, when sharing my work with others, I often feel overwhelmed with fear and doubt. What if my ideas are not well-received? What if I'm judged or criticized? These thoughts can be paralyzing, and have held me back from creating some of my best work.

The Importance of Acknowledging and Accepting Our Fears

The Importance of Acknowledging and Accepting Our Fears I've learned, avoiding my fears only leads to missed opportunities for growth and development. It's important to acknowledge that fear and vulnerability are essential to the creative process. When we are willing to be vulnerable and expose our innermost ideas and emotions, we open ourselves up to deeper connections with our audience and the potential for truly meaningful and authentic work. So, how can I break the cycle of avoidance and fear when it comes to exposing my own ideas in my artwork themes? The first step is acknowledging and accepting my fears. It's okay to feel scared, and it's important to recognize that those feelings are valid. It's also important for me to remember that being brave doesn't mean never feeling fear. It means acknowledging my fears and taking steps to face them, even when it's difficult. By embracing my fears and working through them, I can create truly authentic and meaningful work that reflects my unique perspective and experiences as an artist.

New Projects on the Horizon: Facing Fear Head-On

That’s why I am excited to announce that I'm currently working on brand-new clothing collections and a new product that I cannot wait to share with all of you! These are two projects that have been in the works for a while now and I'm thrilled to finally see them come to life. I hope to tap into my unique perspective and experiences by facing my fear of rejection head-on, with the intention of creating something truly special.

Taking a Break from Social Media: Dedication to Creating Something Special

In order to fully focus on bringing these projects to fruition, I've decided to take a break from my regular social media presence for the next 16 weeks. Instead, I'll be dedicating all my time and energy to creating these amazing new pieces that I know you're going to love. However, I'll be sharing my journey on my blog, so be sure to check it out for updates on my progress. Additionally, for those of you who provided an email address when you signed up for my Facebook group, I have some exclusive content planned just for you. You'll get to see sneak peeks of the new collection and product, as well as tips and tricks for painting your clothing. By sharing my journey, I hope to connect and inspire others to face their fears and embrace their unique perspectives and experiences.
